Profhilo is a formulation developed and manufactured by IBSA of Italy. It is a next-generation “hybrid hyaluronic acid formulation” that hydrogen bonds two types of hyaluronic acid, high molecular weight hyaluronic acid and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, using an internationally patented technology called NAHYCO® technology.

How to work Profhilo

Conventional hyaluronic acid procedure aim to improve wrinkles by injecting hard hyaluronic acid into depressions and grooves, filling them in.

The effectiveness of this procedure depends on how well the hyaluronic acid remains in place after injection, without absorption.

On the other hand, Profhilo is highly fluid and has the ability to diffuse and penetrate into the surrounding area（about radius 2cm）rather than remaining at the injection site.

When injected into the surface of the skin, Profhilo penetrates smoothly into the deeper subcutaneous tissue and fat layer, stimulating dermal fibroblasts to promote the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, thereby plumping up the skin.

Furthermore, as a result of “tissue remodeling (cell reconstruction),” you can expect natural anti-aging effects (rejuvenation effects) in various forms, not just the improvement of wrinkles, but also improvements in pores, skin texture and luster, reduction of dullness, and whitening effects.

Profhilo, which provides these various effects, is a hyaluronic acid preparation of a completely different dimension from conventional hyaluronic acid, which simply fills in depressions and grooves, and can be thought of as a treatment closer to regenerative medicine than a simple injection treatment.

Next-generation hybrid hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid comes in low and high molecular weight forms, and its biological effects vary depending on its molecular weight.

Profhilo uses NAHYCO Hybrid Technology to loosely bind low and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid.

A complex of low molecular weight and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid (hybrid hyaluronic acid) diffuses and increases the extracellular matrix, causing “skin remodeling.”

These effects are said to help restore firmness, wrinkles, and sagging skin.

Highly safe ingredients

Conventional hyaluronic acid generally contains an ingredient called a cross-linking agent.

Cross-linking is the process of linking hyaluronic acid together to create new chemical bonds, like building a bridge between hyaluronic acid molecules.

Cross-linking slows down the absorption of hyaluronic acid at the injection site, prolonging its duration.

To crosslink hyaluronic acid, hyaluronic acid is reacted with an additive called a crosslinking agent.

After injection, any unreacted crosslinker is removed, however, it cannot be removed 100% and very small amounts will remain.

In very rare cases, small amounts of this residual crosslinking agent may cause an allergic reaction.

Profhilo is highly safe because it does not contain any crosslinking agents, chemicals, or biological agents.

Redness, lumps, and swelling after injection

Immediately afterwards, you may feel a lump at the injection site, but this is temporary as it will dissipate naturally.

Is it painful?

The needle is thin, so there is a slight tingling pain when it is inserted.

Prophilo is a non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid preparation, but because it has a high viscosity and is injected into the shallow layer, a unique dull pain is felt for 5 to 10 seconds after injection.

There is no pain after completion.
